Shahid Kapoor in talks for Udta Punjab 2 as Ekta Kapoor plans sequel: Report
Ekta Kapoor is reportedly developing a sequel to Udta Punjab (2016), the crime drama that delved into Punjab’s drug crisis. While the project is still in its early stages, a report by PeepingMoon suggests that filmmaker Aakash Kaushik has been brought on board to write and direct. Although no official confirmation has been made, report indicates that Shahid Kapoor is being considered for the lead role.New Director, Fresh StorylineUnlike the original film, which was directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab 2 will be helmed by Aakash Kaushik, known for writing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Housefull 4. Abhishek Chaubey will not be involved in the sequel as he is occupied with other projects.The report also suggests that Ekta Kapoor is keen on bringing Shahid Kapoor back for Udta Punjab 2. However, discussions are still in the preliminary stage, and a final decision will be made once the script is locked.
